STORY:

Sergey grew up in Pripyat.
In 1986, just a few weeks before the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster, children began to disappear without a trace. Among them was his younger sister, Varya.

After the catastrophe, the city was abandoned. The searches stopped, and the past was buried beneath radiation and deadly silence.

Ten years later, Sergey receives an anonymous envelope.
Inside is a photograph of Varya, taken after the disaster, against the backdrop of the dead city.

To uncover the truth, he must return to a place no one was meant to return to — the abandoned city of Pripyat, where memories awaken and secrets refuse to remain forgotten.

FEATURES:

  • Explore the abandoned city of Pripyat, recreated from real locations;

  • Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 1980s USSR: interiors, objects, and everyday details;

  • A story rooted in mysticism, tragedy, and the disappearance of children;

  • Transitions between reality and a distorted world of memories;

  • Search for artifacts and clues that reveal the events of 1986;

  • Survival shooter elements: rare and tense encounters with hostile creatures;

  • Use melee and firearms as a means of survival;

  • Slow-paced gameplay with puzzles inspired by classic adventure games;

  • An oppressive atmosphere, unsettling sound design, and rare but memorable scares;

  • A distinctive visual style inspired by iconic psychological horror titles.

April ’86 is not a story about monsters, but about memory, guilt, and what never truly stayed in the past.

If you appreciate atmospheric horror with slow storytelling and a constant sense of unease, this journey is worth seeing through to the end.
