About this game

About the story:

You’ve awoken in a strange bedroom - a bedroom that is certainly not your own, located in a building you’ve never been inside of before. An equally strange building, with 10 different floors, all lacking windows of any kind. Upon further inspection, you come to the realization you are trapped in this mysterious building. You have no recollection of where this is or why you’re here. Actually, there seems to be a mysterious gap in your memory from the past few weeks. And so, a slew of questions flood your mind. “Where am I? Why am I here?” And most importantly: “how do I escape?”

And you’re not alone here. Far from it. Meet a small but colorful cast of characters in your journey to answer the questions plaguing your mind. A unique group of people, whose thoughts seem to contradict your own. Interrogate them. Hang out with them. Explore this place with them. Uncover the truth with them. And most importantly, escape with them!

About the gameplay:

  • No Recollection is a full length visual novel that is completely free.
  • Over 155,000 words within the game’s main story.
  • Over 25,000 words of optional content (mostly consisting of alternate endings.)
  • There are 6 different bad endings and 1 main ending.
  • The game is mostly linear, focusing on one story; your choices can alter the order in which some events play out, and can occasionally result in a bad ending, but there is only one route.

About the development:

This game is a passion project I worked on for almost 3 years. It is the first novel I’ve ever written, as well as the first full game I’ve ever made. I also created the entire thing myself, so it may not be the epitome of quality. But even so, this game means a lot to me, regardless of how it turned out.
