Overview

About this game

Mineclearer VR is a minesweeper game in VR. Move around and analyse the field you stand on from a first person perspective in VR. The goal is to clear all safe tiles while avoiding the tiles containing mines.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Mineclearer VR involves analysing and revealing the grid of tiles that you stand on. The grid starts with all tiles unrevealed. Each tile can either be empty, containt a mine, or contain a number.

  • If a tile that is empty is revealed, it will automatically reveal all adjacent tiles.

  • If a tile that contains a mine is revealed, it will blow up and the player has lost the game.

  • If a tile contains a number, that number represents how many mines exist adjacent to this tile (both orthogonaly and diagonaly). These numbers are referred to as clues.

Tiles can be revealed by the player poking at them with the Poking Device found on the player's belt, or by simply walking onto them. Flags are found in the flag bag on the player's belt, and can be placed on unrevealed tiles to mark them as containing a mine. This prevents the tile from being revealed and potentially blowing up as long as the flag is placed. To win the game, the player must prove their solution by revealing all the safe tiles.

Mineclearer VR includes the following game modes:

Classic

Like in classic minesweeper, the player can see clues on cleared tiles. In this VR game the player must however move around the field to clear tiles and place flags.

Orienteering

In this gamemode the player can only see the clues on a handheld map. They must orient the map and navigate the minefield correctly to clear the correct tiles without accidentally stepping on a mine.

Coop Orienteering

This asymmetrical multiplayer mode adds the challenge of conveying information correctly between two players. One player is in VR, while another is at a computer screen. The player at the computer screen can see a map of the clues, while only the player in VR can see and interact with the minefield. They must communicate in order to clear all the correct tiles without accidentally setting off a mine.
