Overview
About this game
Microlandia is a city builder that combines a cute, classic look with a deep socioeconomic simulation under the hood, modeled after real-world research and statistics.
Build a city from the ground up
Plan a city where people will live and work. Lay down roads and a bus network. Build housing, businesses and public works of many types, each with its own functions, upsides and tradeoffs.
Every citizen counts
All residents of your city are simulated one by one. No fake crowds, no statistical approximations. Each one holds a job at a real company, pays rent to a greedy landlord, and can get sick and need a hospital with real staffing and capacity. If they go broke and jobless for long enough, they consider a career in the criminal underworld. None of this is random: it is all side effects of your choices as mayor.
Policy matters
You set the rates for income, sales and corporate taxes. You can charge for business licenses, bus fares, parking and more. Raise them too high and the cost of living becomes unbearable. Lower them too far and you won't collect enough. Every decision matters and shapes your economy. And watch your approval rating: citizens vote, and you lose the game when they elect another mayor.

The city talks back
A newspaper covers everything that happens in your city. Crime reports with real addresses. Exact figures. Every story emerges from what's actually happening in your city, and you will be blamed for all the bad news. Every five years, a random incident tests your planning: heatwaves, recessions, droughts and more.
Inspired by real cities
We're making the most advanced socioeconomic simulation in the history of city builders. That's why we model it on research and data from sources like the World Bank, the OECD and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The challenges you face exist in (and teach us about) real life. All the simulation's parameters and their sources are published on our website.
Features
Every citizen, household and company is simulated one by one. No fake crowds, no statistical approximations.
Set income, sales and corporate taxes, plus fees and licenses, then live with the economy you create.
Win or lose elections: your approval rating is the only win condition.
A newspaper that covers your city and pins the bad news on you.
Random incidents that test your plans: heatwaves, recessions, droughts and more.
Active development
The game is under active development and we have ambitious plans for years to come. There will never be DLC or a Microlandia 2. We'll keep updating and improving the base game. And there will never be in-game purchases either, because we think they're the worst invention since pineapple on pizza.
Wishlist Microlandia and follow us on Steam to hear about every update.
